This month, we’re excited to bring you millions of new and updated records to explore. We regularly launch more records on our site to help support your family history research. Over the coming weeks, we are adding more than 9 million records and images.
One particularly exciting new collection is the Welsh Parish Registers. Launching later this month, this will include more than 8 million new records to help you discover the details behind your Welsh ancestors. Dating from 1538 – 1994, this extensive collection includes baptism, banns, marriage and burial records for the six dioceses and over 900 parishes across Wales. It is an invaluable resource in anyone with Anglican ancestors in Wales to comprehensively go back beyond 1841 for the first time on Ancestry. We are proud to add it to our Card Catalogue.
Earlier this month, we also added two new record set to our Web collections. These may help you to uncover details behind any Scottish ancestors. The Scotland Registers of Deeds, 1619-1859 is a useful collection as it can provide interesting details about financial transactions on land, property or an apprenticeship which your ancestor may have completed. Additionally, the General and Admission Registers for Asylums, 1858-1918 can include personal details of both patients and next of kin. Dive into these records to uncover residence, occupation, patient number and institution locations. Find out more about Ancestry Web Search here.
This month, we will also be updating the Wiltshire Parish Registers, 1538-1916, adding an additional register that was not previously digitised for Trowbridge St. James. Over 18,000 parish records will be added to the collection. These are incredibly useful documents for family historians researching ancestors before 1837.
