Trice Name Meaning

English (Kent): perhaps a variant of Treece. Altered spelling of German Treis, a topographic name for someone who lived by or owned an uncultivated piece of land used as pasture, from Middle Low German drisch ‘fallow land’, or a habitational name from a place named with this word (in Hessian dialect treis), in Hesse or on the Mosel river. Alternatively, in some instances it may be from a short form of the personal name Andreas (see Andrew).
