Croatian (Šiško): nickname derived from šišati ‘to cut hair’ (originating from a custom that a person who first cut child's hair becomes his godfather) or based on the homonym šiško ‘corpulent potbellied man’ which is of Turkish origin (compare 3 below) or on šiška ‘gallnut’ (see 2 below).

Slovenian (Šiško): nickname or metonymic occupational name from šiška ‘gallnut’ (see Siska). Possibly also an American shortened form of Greek Siskos: nickname from Turkish şişko ‘potbellied man’.
