German: nickname for someone with a croaky voice derived from (or under the influence of) Slovenian krakati ‘to croak’ or a Germanized form of Slovenian Krakar (see 1 above). It is an Austrian surname originating from the (bilingual) Austrian parts of Carinthia and Styria and a Gottscheerish (i.e. Gottschee German) surname originating from the Kočevsko region in Lower Carniola Slovenia (see Kocevar).

German (Kräker): variant of Kräcker (see Kracker). Dutch: occupational name for an executioner or a nickname from an agent derivative of kraken ‘to crack’. Compare De Kraker.
