Slovenian: variant of Marn. German: topographic name of Dutch origin for someone who lived by a watercourse (see Van Maren).

English (Lancashire and Middlesex): variant of Marron. This form of the surname is rare in Britain and Ireland.

Perhaps also an American shortened form of Dutch Van Maren.
