Tucknott Name Meaning
of uncertain origin but in Sussex apparently influenced by Early Modern English tucknet(t) denoting a small fishing net used to bring fish to the surface used especially off the Sussex coast. In Rye (Sussex) a decree dated 8 March 1506 prohibited the taking of 'tucknetts' (nets used for plaice fishing) to sea before Palm Sunday.
