Sestak Family History

Czech and Slovak (Šesták): from šesták the name of an old coin (literally ‘sixer’; it was at one time worth six kreuzers). The surname would have been acquired by someone who had to pay rent of this amount or for some other anecdotal reason.

Croatian (Šestak): nickname denoting a child born as a sixth child from a derivative of šesti ‘sixth’. Compare Shestak.
