Hua Name Meaning
Hawaiian: unexplained. Vietnamese (H{us’}a): unexplained. Chinese : one source of the name is Hua mountain, from the time of the Xia dynasty (2205–1766 bc). Also, during the Zhou dynasty (1122–221 bc), a duke of the state of Song enfeoffed the city of Hua to his son, whose descendants adopted the name of the city as their surname. Hua also means ‘China’ or ‘Chinese’ in a broad sense, as in ‘Chinese culture’ or ‘the Chinese people’. Chinese : there is another Chinese name romanized as Hua, whose origins are not clear, but it is apparent that the name came into common use beginning with the Tang dynasty (618–907). This character for Hua also means ‘flower’. Chinese : Wu Wang, who established the Zhou dynasty in 1122 bc, granted the state of Hua along with the title of Earl to a subject. Descendants of this Earl of Hua adopted Hua as their surname. This character for Hua also means ‘slippery’ or ‘smooth’.
