Carmer Name Meaning

Origin unidentified. The name is recorded in different parts of Germany, the Netherlands, and England in the 18th century, and was in the Hudson Valley from the 1740s on. In part at least, it may be a variant of Dutch Kermer ‘Carmelite’ (see Carmel).
