Zebedee Family History
Zebedee Surname Meaning
From the personal name Zebedee mentioned in the New Testament (e.g. Matthew 21-22) as the name of the father of the apostles James and John and in use in England since the Reformation.
It derives from Hebrew Zebadyah generally interpreted as ‘endowment of Jehovah’ which itself appears several times in the Old Testament in the form Zebadiah.
