Whiskin Family History

Whiskin Surname Meaning

Apparently from a pet-form of a personal name through the addition of the diminutive suffix -kin though it is not clear which personal name this pet-form might be derived from.

It is possible that it is from a short form of Old Norman French Wisc(h)ard (see Wishart) but the -e- in the name of the medieval early bearer from 1327 is not compatible with this origin.
