Warr Surname Meaning

English (of Norman origin): nickname for a warrior usually from Norman French were werre waire warre (central French guerre) ‘war battle’ and short for de la werre (de la guerre see Delaware) literally ‘(man) of the war’ a construction paralleled in de la Bataille (see Battle).

Occasionally it is a shortened form of Old French werreur ‘warrior’. English: variant of Ware.
