A variant of Fick (2) or (3) with dialectal (south-western) voicing of the initial consonant. This fits best with the modern Hants and Gloucs distribution of Veck and Vick. Compare Feek and Ficke.

Perhaps from a reduced form of Anglo-Norman French eveke ‘bishop’ (Old French eveske). Compare Bishop. Some modern instances of Levick could theoretically be variants of this name with the Old French article fused with the noun, but this is uncertain.

The variant Vesk(e) is well documented as a Sussex family name in English records (see Surnames of Sussex pp. 264-5) but has not survived into the present day.
