Trenaman Family History

Synonymous with Middle English atte Trewen, denoting someone who lived ‘at the trees,’ perhaps with reference to one of the Devon hamlets so named, such as Trewyn, Train, or Traine; see Treen.

John Treneman 1525 in Subsidy Rolls (Plympton St Maurice borough, Devon) may be a descendant of Walter atte Treawen 1332 in Subsidy Rolls (Plympton, Devon).
