Soame Family History
Soame Surname Meaning
From Saham Toney (Norfolk), Earl and Monk Soham (Suffolk), or Soham (Cambs); and perhaps Siam Hall near Newton (Suffolk), which has the same etymology as all the others (‘lake estate’ Old English sǣ ‘sea lake’ + hām ‘village homestead estate’).
Occasionally perhaps a variant of Soane through confusion of the two names.
