Portuguese, Galician, and Catalan: most probably a variant of Serra. Italian (Séra): from a short form of a personal name with this ending such as Baldissera, Bonasera, or Serafino.
Hungarian (Séra): perhaps from a short form of the Latin personal name Seraphinus (see Serafin). Japanese: phonetically written either 世良 ‘world’ and ‘good’ or 西羅 ‘west’ and ‘silk gauze’.
It is not common in Japan and may be Ryūkyūan in origin.
