Rodrigue Family History

French: from the personal name Rodrigue a French form of Spanish Rodrigo a Christian saint's name. The surname is however in many cases a Frenchified form of the Spanish one or of its German cognate Roderig. The surname Rodrigue is also found in Belgium (Wallonia).

It is also found in Haiti where it is rare and in the Dominican Republic. Altered form under the French influence in LA and QC (Canada) of Portuguese Rodrigues and possibly also Spanish Rodríguez (see Rodriguez).
