Roble Family History
Roble Surname Meaning
Americanized form of German and Sorbian Robel. Norwegian: habitational name from a farm name Robøle found in three places in Valdres, a compound of Old Norse ró ‘corner, isolated or remote place’ and bǿli ‘dwelling, farmstead’.
Spanish: topographic name for someone who lived by a conspicuous oak tree from roble ‘oak tree’ (from Latin robur). This surname is most common in the Philippines.
Somali: from the personal name Roble, derived from roob ‘rain’ and interpreted as e.g. ‘rain bearer’. It is also found in Kenya.
Note: Since Somalis traditionally do not have hereditary surnames, this name was in most cases registered as such only after immigration of its bearers to the US.
