From a lost place Prestall in Deane (Lancs) the name of which survives in Presto Lane. The place-name probably derives from Middle English prest pri(e)st ‘priest’ + halle ‘large private residence hall’ (Old English prēost hall).

Perhaps from Pristow in Tibbenham (Norfolk) or Prestow in Wrington (Somerset), though medieval evidence for these place-names is lacking.
