Nona Family History
Nona Surname Meaning
Italian (Sicily): perhaps from Nona (Croatian Nin), a city in Dalmatia, used as a personal name bestowed on foundlings.
Assyrian/Chaldean: from a pet form of the Syriac personal name Yōnān ‘Jonah’ (see Yonan).
Alternatively, it may derive from a Syriac form of the personal name Nonnos (from Latin Nonnus),
borne by the bishop of Edessa, a Christian saint who flourished in the 5th century.
