Niblock Family History
Niblock Surname Meaning
Scottish and northern Irish: unexplained. The surname has been established in County Antrim since the 17th century, believed to be of British origin.
It may contain the Scottish Gaelic suffix -ach, which is often Anglicized to -o, but the word stem is obscure.
Its similarity of appearance to the modern Scots word niblick and niblock (a golf-club with a small round heavy head) is fortuitous.
