Americanized or Germanized form of Swedish Mörk or Norwegian and Danish Mørk, Mørck, Mørch (see Mork). Dutch: nickname for someone who is discontented and disgruntled.

Slovenian: nickname denoting a person with dark hair or complexion derived from mur ‘black’ (compare Mur). Croatian: presumably an obsolete habitational name for someone from the Međimurje region in northern Croatia derived from the Hungarian name Muraköz for the region.

Alternatively, perhaps a nickname of the same etymology as the Slovenian name in the previous paragraph.
