Monday Family History
Monday Surname Meaning
English:: from the Middle English personal name Mundi Mundy usually a pet form of male personal names ending in -mund or -mond (see Mund and compare Edmond Hammond and Simmonds). Alternatively and especially in northern and eastern England the name might derive from Old Norse Mundi, a pet form of names like Old Norse Agmundr, Middle English Agemund.
It is also thought to be a nickname from Middle English Mone(n)day ‘Monday’. It is possibly a name given to one born on that day or to a holder of Mondayland, land held on condition of working for the lord on Mondays.
