Livermore Family History
Livermore Surname Meaning
English: probably a habitational name from Livermere in Suffolk. This is first found in the form Leuuremer (c. 1050) which suggests derivation from Old English lǣfer ‘rush reed’ + mere ‘lake’.
However later forms consistently show i in the first syllable suggesting Old English lifer ‘liver’ referring either to the shape of the pond or to the coagulation of the water.
