Lila Family History
Lila Surname Meaning
Polish: perhaps an adaptation of German Lill. It occurs mainly in the counties of Kartuzy (Pomeranian Voivodeship) and Gliwice (Silesian Voivodeship) which were under the influence of the German language. Alternatively it could be from Polish lilia ‘lily’ or a derivative of lilać ‘to lull to cradle’.
Albanian: metonymic occupational name from lilë (definite form lila) ‘ring link’. Albanian: from Lilë (definite form Lila) a short form of the Muslim personal name Halil (see Khalil). This surname (in any of the possible senses; see also 2 above) is found mainly in the central part of Albania but also in Kosovo.
Indian: from a Hindi personal name derived from a Sanskrit word meaning ‘divine play’.
