Arabic and Assyrian/Chaldean: from the personal name ’Isḥāq Arabic and Syriac form of the Biblical name Isaac which is also the name of a prophet in Islam (see the Koran 37:112). This form of the name is most common among Muslims in the Indian subcontinent and Nigeria.
Among Assyrians/Chaldeans the name is also commonly spelled Iskhaq. Compare Ishak.
