Holkham Family History
Holkham Surname Meaning
Apparently from Holkham (Norfolk) which is recorded as Holcham in 1086 and may derive from Old English holc ‘hole hollow’ + hām ‘village homestead’.
However all the evidence points to a Sussex origin for the modern surname; it may be from one of the many places called Holcombe, mainly in S England (see Holcombe).
