Hadland Family History
Hadland Surname Meaning
English (Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, and Northamptonshire): possibly a topographic name, a form of Middle English hed-land, -lond ‘headland, strip of land at the edge of a field where the plow was turned’ or ‘promontory’; or from a minor place with such a name e.g. Headland in Dilwyn (Herefordshire).
But the name Headland is found mainly in eastern England.
Norwegian in Rogaland: from the name of several farms, Old Norse hallr ‘sloping’, ‘inclining’ + land ‘(piece of) land, farmstead’.
