Goran Surname Meaning

Americanized form of Jewish (Ashkenazic) Goren. Romanian: from a short form of the personal name Grigoran a derivative of Grigorie (see Gregory).

In some cases probably also Serbian and Croatian: topographic name derived from gora ‘mountain’ also ‘forest in the highlands’. This surname is very rare in Serbia and Croatia.

Possibly also an American shortened form of Swedish Göransson (see Goranson).
