There is also a place called Freeland's Wood in Farleigh, Surrey. Compare Frankland. English: elsewhere than Sussex, Surrey and Kent, possibly also from the Old French personal name Freland from ancient Germanic Fredeland composed of the elements frith ‘peace’ + land ‘land’.
