Perhaps it is a habitational name from Flyford Flavell Worcestershire recorded as Flavel 1190–1428. Flavel is an Anglo-Norman form of the name Flyford that was added to it for distinction from nearby Grafton Flyford.

There is no specific evidence to indicate that this placename has contributed to the surname.
