Dvorak Family History
Dvorak Surname Meaning
Czech (Dvořák): status name for a rich farmer, one who owned a manor house and an estate, or in some cases, an occupational name for someone who worked at a manor house rather than on the land, from Czech dvůr ‘manor, estate’. Compare Sedlak.
In Moravia, the term denoted a freeholder subject only to the king. This is the fourth most common surname in the Czech lands.
