Durick Family History
Durick Surname Meaning
Americanized form of Slovak Ďurík Ďurik: from a pet form of the personal name Ďuro (see Durica). The surname Ďurík is also found in Serbia (Vojvodina); see also 4 below.
Probably also an Americanized form of East German (Saxony, Silesia, Bohemia) Dürich, a habitational name for someone from Thuringia (see Doering) or of the Swiss German cognate Dürig (see Durig).
Irish: variant of Durack, an Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Dubhraic, thought to be from Ó Dubhratha ‘descendant of Dubhratha’, a personal name meaning ‘black one of prosperity’. This surname is rare in Ireland and Britain.
In some cases, possibly also an Americanized form of Serbian and Croatian Đurić (see Djuric) or Slovenian Durič, or Bosniak Durić (see Duric); see also 1 above.
