Crickmore Family History
Crickmore Surname Meaning
English (Suffolk and Norfolk): perhaps a habitational name from a lost or unidentified place in East Anglia called something like Creekmere ‘pond or lake near an arm of the sea’. The form of the name suggests Crugmeer in Cornwall as a possible source or the related Welsh term crug mawr ‘large mound’ both pronounced with /i/ in the first syllable.
However, there is no evidence for the origin of the surname in the west of England or Wales.
