Crickett Family History
Crickett Surname Meaning
From Old French criquet and Middle English criket or creket, the term 'cricket' refers to someone believed to resemble the insect in some way.
Cricket Malherbie and Cricket Saint Thomas, both located in Somerset, are apparently named from Primitive Welsh *crug, meaning ‘hill,’ combined with the Old French diminutive suffix -et, thus translating to ‘little hill’.
Although Crickheath in Shropshire is also formally considered a possible source, no evidence has been found to support a surname derived from this location.
