Chaldecott Family History

Chaldecott Surname Meaning

The medieval examples refer to either Chalcot in Dilton or to Chaldicott's Farm in Semley (both Wilts) unless the latter place represents a transferred name derived from the former; see Place-Names of Wilts pp. 147 210.

Modern examples may also derive from Chollacott (Devon) which has the same etymology from Old English ceald + cot ‘cold cottage’.
