Bredin Surname Meaning

Irish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Giolla Bhrídín the name of a family related to Mac Giolla Bhrighde ‘son of the servant of (Saint) Brigit’ where Brídín is a diminutive of the saint's name (see McBride).

This name was once found in an ecclesiastical family in County Down but it has not survived in Ireland.
