Beets Family History
Beets Surname Meaning
Dutch: mainly a habitational name from either of two villages called Beets in North Holland and Friesland. English: variant of Beet with post-medieval excrescent -s from the Middle English personal name Bete, a pet form of Betris (see Beatrice).
In East Anglia, however, where the name is concentrated, it is of Dutch origin (see 1 above) as evidenced by the census of 188. This surname is now rare in Britain.
Probably an altered form of German Beetz.
