English: habitational name from a place called Bayden in Sussex which is referred to in 17th-century documents but unlocated.

It is possibly to be identified with Bainden, a manor in Mayfield, Sussex, or from Baydon in Wiltshire.

The latter is from Old English beg + dūn meaning ‘berry hill’.
