Vallender Family History

Vallender Surname Meaning

Probably a variant of the Gloucs surname Vellinder (now rare or extinct), itself apparently a variant of Verrinder. Compare Benjamin Valinder 1731 in IGI (Churcham Gloucs) with Harriet Ferrinder 1833 in IGI (Churcham with Bulley Gloucs).

John Valendar 1747, John Villender 1753, and Sarah Vellendar 1755 in IGI (Barnwood Gloucs) also illustrate the variations of this surname.

Additionally, Elizabeth Valender 1742 and Elizabeth Velinder 1771 in IGI (Gloucester Gloucs) highlight further instances of these name transformations.

Alternatively, this surname form may be identical with (2), although the explanation for this is currently unexplained.
