Treagus Family History

Treagus Surname Meaning

from Troisgots (Manche). The etymology of the place-name is uncertain. possibly from one of the places in Cornwall called Tregoose for example in Sithney parish named with Middle Cornish tre ‘estate farmstead’ + cos ‘wood’.

This applies only to instances without -s- before medial -g-. Some early bearers may simply be Cornish members of the landed family referred to in (1) and the same applies to all modern bearers.
