Teanby Family History
Teanby Surname Meaning
from Tumby (Lincs) which is recorded as Tunbi in 1086, Tumbi about 1115 and Tuneby in 122. The place-name probably derives from Old Scandinavian tūn ‘enclosure’ + bȳ ‘farmstead village’.
The modern development to Teanby and Tenby is irregular but it seems impossible to connect this surname with Tenby (Pembrokes).
