Indian (Punjab): Sikh name (from Sanskrit siddha ‘accomplished’) derived from the name of a major Jat tribe.
The Sidhu trace their origin to Jaisal, a Bhatti Rajput who was founder of Jaisalmer.
Among his descendants was Khiwa who married a Jat woman and by her had Sidhu the ancestor of the Sidhu tribe.
