Alternatively, any or all of the following post-medieval bearers may belong under (2). From Pennicott in Shobrooke (Devon), which is recorded as Pinecote in 1262 and Pynnecote in 127. The place-name derives from the Old English personal name Pinna + Old English cot ‘cottage hut shelter’.
Occasionally a variant of Pincott (1).
