Oxland Family History
Oxland Surname Meaning
Probably a variant of Oseland, possibly from Exeland in Bickleigh near Exeter (Devon) which is recorded as Exelond in 129.
The place-name derives from the name of the river Exe + Old English land ‘land.’
There is, however, no evidence to link the medieval and post-medieval bearers cited here.
