Slovenian: of the same German origin as 1 above (compare Kebler) or a variant of Koblar a topographic name for someone living by a hill derived from Middle High German kofel ‘hill mountain top’ (compare German Kofler).

In North America the surname Kobler may also be an altered form of the name Koblar.
