Kellock Family History

Kellock Surname Meaning

Scottish (mainly Fife): habitational name from the lands of Killock (Ayrshire) or alternatively from Keiloch in Braemar (Aberdeenshire).

English: variant of Kellogg. English: probably from the Middle English female personal name Ketelog Kellok (Old Norse Ketillaug from ketill ‘sacrificial cauldron helmet’ + laug ‘(hot) spring cauldron’).

It could alternatively represent the Old Norse male name Kiallakr, a borrowing of Old Irish Cellach (see Kelly).

However, this Hiberno-Norse name is not recorded as a personal name anywhere in medieval England.
