Fyson Family History

Fyson Surname Meaning

Perhaps an assimilated form of the Suffolk surname (de) Fiston, apparently from an unidentified place called Fiston. Perhaps a metathesized form of Fitzson attested in Willielmus ffyzson 1361 and Johannes ffyztsone 1408 in Calendar of Bury Saint Edmunds Wills (Bury Saint Edmunds, Suffolk).

Fitzson is possibly a pronunciation of Fitzjohn. A John Fitzjon acted as executor in a Suffolk will dated 1452 in the Baldwyne Register (Bury St Edmunds).
