Farby Surname Meaning
from Veraby in Bishop's Nympton (Devon) which is recorded as La Fayrebie in 1285 or Fairby in Tiverton (also Devon) recorded as Fayrebye in 1280. The place-names both derive from Old English fæger ‘fair beautiful’ + byge ‘corner river bend’.
Bearers are rare in Devon after the 18th century and it may be that this particular surname has not survived. A variant of Ferraby.
