Perhaps a variant of Avenant (see Avent) to which the Old French preposition de d' was prefixed to give it the appearance of a Norman locative name and thus the status that such names gave Anglo-Norman lords.

The variation is possibly explicit much later in Caleb Avenant alias D'elvenant of Shelsley Walsh Worcs 1709 in PROB 11.

The spelling D'Avenant is frequent in the 18th century.
